Happy Independence Day!

A good weekend we have had. And thanks go to our Veterans and those currently fighting and serving our country so that we may be free!

Saturday night, after I got done working, I made an 4th of July ice cream cake for us to enjoy this weekend. I also smoked some duck on dad's smoker while the girls swam, AGAIN. (that would be 3 times on Saturday).

Yesterday was church day. We brought Harley home with us after church. We ate a wonderful lunch that mom made- Boston butt, potato salad, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, fried zucchini, squash, okra and potatoes, and eggplant. They invited our neighbor, Mr Ronnie, to join us for lunch. He provided much entertainment lots of stories from the past. The girls went swimming after lunch and we relaxed in the air conditioner

Even spot relaxed inside.

Harley went home and the girls spent the night with granny and pawpaw. Eric and I pretended we were old folks and put our pj's on and watched crime shows on TV.

So today, we slept in late and then Eric mowed and I went to moms to help with our lunch of hamburgers and watermelon. While starting the grill mom found this little feller-

This black snake was tangled up in netting and Robin Ann thought we should save him. I stick to my theory that the only good snake is a dead snake. But, Nnnnoooo- not Granny.

...and so the snake went free after granny cut the net away.

We ate our hamburgers and watermelon. I can hear thunder over across the field, but no rain yet. We still could use some. Here is our lovely temp in the shade. The temp on the bottom is how hot it is in mom and dads attic.

......well we got a nice shower!! After a day at mom and dad's, we went to Harrington Holler for fireworks. I also made homemade peaches and cream ice cream to take with us. Blake and Penny put on a very, Very impressive fireworks show. The girls sat on the doc of the pond and the boys shot the fireworks. Life is good!

I've worked too hard this week!

Not enough pictures this week to post to the blog because there has been too much work going on for my so called real job. I volunteered to work on my day off yesterday because I'm trying to save money so I can take a summer vacation. When I volunteered I didn't remember that it was my Saturday to work. URG! So much for a long weekend. But more money for a trip

I'd like to go somewhere like this.

.........Or some like this.

Either way, or even if it's a "stay-cation", I need a vacation. I NEED one cause it's on our bucket-list. (:

Finally Rain!!

Thanks to God for our showers we had yesterday. It was WONDERFUL with temps dropping down to the upper 60's and 70's.

These are the precious clouds that formed yesterday morning.

And these are the dorks that sprouted up in my yard after about 3 hours of rain. (I think they dress just like this to irritate me).

Our weekend

Our weekend included restful days, cleaning out closets, and washing dishes. Sounds bad, but it was really nice.

Friday I slept in. It was nice. Then, while laying in bed, I got sucked into that awful trial of Casey Anthony. In my humble opinion, they need to throw the whole family under the bus. I'm just saying. After Eric got through running his errands, we all loaded up and went to Bryant to pick up some floor mats for the tahoe. While in Bryant we went ahead and purchased our groceries. We went to Bryant in my car. ( the trunk is full of my supplies for work, so all the groceries went up front with us. Leah loves cheese-balls as much as I did when I was young, and she found this big tub at Walmart. So thus- the above pictures on the way home. What you can't see is her arm wrapped around the tub.

Mom and dad have a beautiful garden and the above pictures are SOME of the fruits of their bounty. On Saturday I went over for lunch and was quickly sucked into washing dishes, while mom and dad canned and cooked. The girls had spent the night with them Friday night after bible school and so they were outside doing guess what?........

Saturday also consisted of cleaning out closets. There is no picture for that. Oh there could be because there are still piles of clothes in my bedroom floor, but I will leave it to your imagination. I currently have 2 1/2 large garbage bags of clothes for SOS and could give away more!!

Sunday was the typical Sunday. Church, lunch, more swimming for the kids and napping for me and Eric then back to church. The only difference was we went out to eat pizza at Larry's in town. Mom and dad usually cook, but were tired of cooking after cooking all week for bible school. They cook snacks for all the teaches every night of VBS. Yeah- we're spoilt!

The end of VBS

So the end is here. One more night tonight. Eric and I have had a good class, only four at the most each night. Bradley and Kerri had as many as 11 one night- and all of them kindergartners or first graders. Bwahahahaha. I think the kids have enjoyed it to. I enjoy the memories my kids are making......

So tonight is closing program. Dad will give the Friday night lesson, then closing program, followed by what baptist do best....eat. We are having potluck tonight. Not your typical cookies and Kool-aide.

Bible School Week

It's vacation bible school week at Shiloh. Vacation?? I think it was called this because of the time of the year when most bible schools are held. When I first started going to Shiloh, not THAT many years ago, bible school was a LONG week affair. Bible school was held in the morning and revival was at night. Revival started on Sunday night, VBS was in the morning, with a sermon by the revival evangelist preaching after bible school, then a sermon that night, and it ended on SATURDAY!! Oh we were so tired and so were the evangelist. Now our revival is a separate week and Monday thru Friday. Bible schools are usually held at night too since most teachers/moms work during the day. Here are a few pics from last night.

These are two of the kids in my class...

......some kids never grow up.

Leah and Tucker in refreshments......

.....Tucker not so happy. She looks so much like Bradley.

........Craft time.

Father's day weekend

I'm cooking for all the dad's tomorrow. The plan is fried deer tenderloin, corn, green beans, squash and zucchini, cucumbers and rolls. I'm debating on home-made rolls or going into Walmart and buy some of Sister Shuberts home made rolls. Considering that I have to be at church at 8 on the morning (for a bible school prayer breakfast)) and won't be home until almost 12, Sister Shuberts is sounding like the better plan! I'm cooking for my dad, Eric's dad, and Eric's brother Nathan's family. Oh my. I better get started quick!!
We are so blessed to have all these men in our lives and blessed that they are such good examples of what a daddy should be.

....couldn't find a pic of Erics dad. Maybe I'll get one tomorrow. Happy father's dad.
